A brief history, our vision and mission
of the Otto Lang Verein e.V.
The Otto Lang Verein e.V. was founded in 2013 as a result of a visit of Ibrahim Ismael and his step father
Otto Lang in the region of Bawku in 2009. During this visit the vision to build a school for children and women was created.
Ibrahim was born and raised near Bakwu before he came to Germany as a political refugee in 1996.
He acquired german citizenship in 2011 and lives since in Munich.
The idea to build a school for children and women was supported from the beginning by family and friends
and led finally to the foundation of this public charity.
Our mission is to give children and women the access to education based on the European school-scheme.
In addition we plan to scout women about FGM (female genital mutilation) with the goal to reduce and
finally ban this practice in the region.
We also plan to create new jobs by housekeeping of the school, cooking of the daily meal provided to pupils and farming to produce food for the kitchen and for the regional markets.
If you want to see the status of the building and the school, please open the pull-down menu "NEWS" for recent pictures or open the pull-down menu "Chronik" for past pictures of the construction.
